Multi-Department Collaboration in Wudalianchi Global Geopark Responds to Heavy Snowfall, Fully Ensuring Smooth Traffic and Safe Travel for ResidentsRelease date:2025-03-12

Affected by strong cold air, Wudalianchi Global Geopark was hit by a large-scale snowfall on March 12. To ensure the safety and smooth flow of road traffic within the jurisdiction, multiple departments of Wudalianchi made advance arrangements, worked round the clock, and fully launched an all-out campaign for snow clearance.

According to meteorological monitoring, this snowfall featured a large volume and long duration. On March 11, the Wudalianchi Traffic Police Brigade held an emergency meeting on response and disposal of severe weather and activated a 24-hour emergency response mechanism. By leveraging an integrated online-offline prevention and control system, the brigade increased patrol frequencies on key road sections such as national and provincial highways and rural roads. On March 12, a total of 12 police officers and 3 police vehicles were deployed, 1 temporary turnaround checkpoint was set up, and 6 real-time weather warnings and road condition alerts were released via official WeChat public account to guide the public in rationally planning their travel routes.

The snow clearance operations on transportation routes were fully launched in the early hours of the morning. At 5:00 on March 12, the Transportation Center organized 8 professional staff members and 4 large-scale snow removal equipment to carry out operations, focusing on cyclic snow clearance on 11 kilometers of national and provincial trunk lines and 79 kilometers of rural highways. Meanwhile, a snow clearance model featuring "machinery as the mainstay and manual labor as supplementary" was established, with 1 command vehicle assigned for dynamic scheduling to ensure that newly fallen snow was cleared immediately. As of press time, two-way traffic had been restored on the major highway network within the jurisdiction.

Starting from 2:00 a.m., the Garden, Municipal and Public Facilities Support Center mobilized 8 snow removal vehicles and 10 drivers to carry out rotating work under the "people rest, machines do not" shift system, conducting two rounds of intensive snow clearance on municipal roads in both the new and old town areas. After completing the first round of snow clearance at 8:00 a.m., the center continued dynamic maintenance work, effectively safeguarding the travel safety of residents during the morning rush hour.

At present, Wudalianchi has established a "traffic police + transportation + municipal administration" trinity emergency linkage mechanism. The traffic police department continues to strengthen road surface control and strictly implements the leader-on-duty system; the transportation and municipal administration departments ensure that subsequent snow clearance forces are on standby at all times. Through scientific scheduling and round-the-clock efforts, no major traffic accidents or prolonged traffic jams have occurred in the jurisdiction, effectively guaranteeing the stable and orderly operation of production and daily life.
