In order to compile popular science readings and put the UNESCO Global Geopark’s evaluation requirements into practice, Xu Kejian, the doctor of China University of Geosciences; Yao Yonghui, the doctor of Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resource Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Zhang Tianyi, the professor of Institute of land and resources of Henan Province came to Wudalianchi for field trip from June 6th to 9th . During the field trips, the experts gave high evaluation and fully affirmation on the geopark’s protection work, but also pointed out the shortcomings of sign design system for geological heritage, such as, the sign is lack of geological relic features and vegetational type is not mentioned in signboard integrally. The experts emphasized that Wudalianchi owns old and modern volcanoes and mineral spring water, and these natural resources are natural and precious. Wudalianchi Global Geopark did good job on protection work but according to UNESCO Global Geopark’s requirements, Wudalianch still need to work more on science popularization, such as how to tell a whole volcanic story for children, primary and secondary school students, social groups and tourists and how to explain the relations between mineral water and volcanic geological phenomenon. The science popularization education and propagandize take up a large proportion for global geopark’s evaluation. With the suggestions given by UNESCO evaluation experts in 2014, Wudalianchi Global Geopark will compile a series of scientific popular books for different groups and pay more attention on update the sign design system.
