Volcanic Barrier Lakes Scenic AreaRelease date:2020-10-21

Lava from Laohei Volcano and Huoshao Volcano blocked an ancient river, resulting in a string of five lakes in an array from south to north. This interesting formation gives Wudalianchi its name, which means “five connecting lakes”. 41.5km2 in total area, they are one of China’s most famous barrier lakes. Enjoying an abundant supply of hill streams and subterranean springs, the lakes never dry up.
