On April 27, an online exchange activity was successfully held between Wudalianchi Global Geopark Senior High School and Tseung Kwan O Secondary School of Hong Kong Global Geopark. Teachers and students from both schools gathered online to conduct in-depth exchanges on the geopark cultures, geological landscapes, local customs and campus life of young students in the two regions. The event concluded with a warm atmosphere and full success.

Centering on the theme of Appreciating Geological Wonders, Experiencing Humanistic Customs, and Sharing Youthful Campus Life, the exchange was carefully prepared by both sides. At the opening of the activity, principals of the two schools delivered speeches respectively, introducing their school-running philosophies and distinctive features, and expressing the expectation of deepening inter-school cooperation and normalizing youth cultural exchanges between the two regions.
In the geological landscape sharing session, student representatives from both schools acted as "cultural ambassadors". Combined with video and image materials, students from Wudalianchi Global Geopark Senior High School elaborated on the unique features of Wudalianchi Global Geopark. Boasting various types of volcanoes and lava micro-landforms, as well as five connected lakes intertwined with one of the world’s three major cold spring clusters, the geopark is known as a natural volcanic museum, enabling teachers and students in Hong Kong to directly experience the wonders of volcanic geology.
Students from Tseung Kwan O Secondary School focused on Hong Kong Global Geopark, with an emphasis on the hexagonal volcanic rock columns in the Sai Kung Volcanic Rock Region. They illustrated its formation history and international geological value, and demonstrated the in-depth integration of geoparks with urban development and ecological conservation. Interactive questions and discussions on geological relic protection further broadened the horizons of all participants.
In the local customs sharing section, teachers and students from Wudalianchi introduced folk traditions and characteristic industries such as the Volcano Holy Water Festival and ice and snow sports, presenting the simple and authentic local culture of Northeast China. Their Hong Kong counterparts shared the Hakka walled village culture of Tseung Kwan O, diverse local cuisines and traditional festivals of Hong Kong, allowing each other to experience the unique humanistic charm of Hong Kong and enhancing mutual understanding of regional cultural differences.
During the campus life exchange session, students from both sides shared their learning experiences and club activities. Students from Wudalianchi introduced ethnic dance clubs, geological popular science societies and outdoor research and study activities; Hong Kong students shared diversified club programs and interdisciplinary practical projects, effectively narrowing the emotional distance between each other.
At the end of the activity, students from both sides took the initiative to exchange contact information, committing to maintaining regular communication and lasting friendship. In their closing remarks, school leaders noted that the activity achieved remarkable results, built a solid bridge for youth exchanges between the two regions, and played a vital role in promoting educational and cultural interaction as well as strengthening national cohesion. Going forward, the two schools will take this activity as a new starting point to deepen cooperation, launch diversified exchange programs, and support the joint growth of young people on both sides.
