From September 10 to September 13, 2024, the 8th Asia-Pacific Global Geoparks Conference was held in Cao Bang City, Vietnam. Guo Chongkuo, Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of Wudalianchi Global Geopark, led a delegation to attend the conference upon invitation.
During the conference, the delegation of Wudalianchi Global Geopark actively participated in the themed seminars and the events marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN). They conducted experience exchanges with representatives of participating geoparks including Jeju Island Global Geopark, Zhangjiajie Global Geopark and Songshan Global Geopark. Besides, they promoted Wudalianchi by setting up exhibition booths, distributing publicity materials and conducting on-site presentations.
On September 11, Wudalianchi Global Geopark took part in the election meeting of the Asia-Pacific Global Geoparks, at which the Chief Coordinator and Deputy Chief Coordinators of the Asia-Pacific Global Geoparks were elected through voting.
The delegation paid a courtesy call on Nicholas Zouros, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Global Geoparks Network. They exchanged experiences on the management of global geoparks and solicited opinions and suggestions on the re-assessment work.
The participation in this conference has further broadened the horizon of Wudalianchi in the construction and management of global geoparks, vigorously promoted the exchanges between Wudalianchi and other global geoparks, and played a positive role in further enhancing the international influence and tourism quality of Wudalianchi Global Geopark.
