Wudalianchi is Global Geopark, Biosphere Reserve and GLPCA (Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas), and then Bureau of Land and Resources, Bureau of Environmental Protection and Bureau of Housing and Urban Rural Construction worked on the different title separately and had their own emphasis on protection and management of UNESCO designated sites, with some similarities and more differences. Therefore, many problems appeared, such as inconsistent planning, incomplete materials, collections incomprehensive communication and cooperation, and then an efficient and comprehensive management system working in order is extremely necessary. In addition, the scientific research and popularization also lay restraints on the protection and development of Wudalianchi to some certain degree. Due to the above reasons, Wudalianchi Administration Committee established a new Scientific Research and Management Center, mainly in charge of the planning, material collection, archiving and other related works of Global Geopark, Biosphere Reserve and GLPCA; exchanging and cooperating with relevant national and international organizations and reserves; conducting scientific research with relevant colleges, universities and institutes on volcanic geology, ecology, flora and fauna, as well as mineral water; carrying out propaganda and scientific popularization on volcanic knowledge; doing research on the treatment functions and preventive effects of mineral water on kinds of chronic diseases and meanwhile collecting relevant cases to establish database. The establishment of the center will provide a unified management and development platform for the conservation of geological relics, improvement of ecological environment, popularization of scientific knowledge, publicity of unified brand, scientific research and other aspects of Wudalianchi Global Geopark.
