On May 4th the“International Symposium on Geological and Ecological Values of Volcanic Preservation Locations”was held in the Northeast Forestry University. Taking Wudalianchi Global Geopark as one example, international geologists and ecologists gathered in Harbin to discuss geological and ecological values of volcanic protection locations in the world. The symposium had 15 topics including "Report of Volcano Research in China," "Progress of Global Volcanoes Protection", introduced the academic achievements from various fields, such as geological and ecological value of volcano protection, international cooperation on science and management, future research on science management and cooperation agendas. Experts also highlighted the landforms, biological and ecological characteristics of the volcanoes in Wudalianchi, and discussed how to protect the geological landform features of the global volcanoes. The symposium aimed to strengthen the further research on the geological and ecological value of global volcanoes protection and a wide range of global comparison, promote a deeper research level of volcanic geology, volcanic bio-ecological research in China, and realize its effective protection and management.
