Improve International Communication and Geopark’s DevelopmentRelease date:2018-06-21

The 10th session of Geoparks International Course was open in Lesvos Island UNESCO Global Geopark from 7 to 17 June themed on UNESCO Global Geoparks and Geoheritages Management. Over 50 representatives from 25 countries participated in the Course. At the invitation of Prof. Νickolaos Zouros, Global Geoparks Network (GGN) President, Niu Mingguang, Vice director of Wudalianchi Administration Committee, Si Yongchao, the staff of Wudalianchi, took part in part of the Course from 7 to 9 June. Over ten representatives such as Prof. Νickolaos Zouros, Global Geoparks Network (GGN) President and Dr. Guy Martini, General Secretary of Global Geoparks Network (GGN) made speeches in the course. Teachers of this Course are Prof. Patrick Mc Keever, UNESCO; Chief of Section, Earth Sciences and Geohazard Risk Reduction secretary, UNESCO Global Geoparks Secretary of the IGCP;EES/EGR; Natural Sciences Sector, Prof. Νickolaos Zouros, University of Aegean, Greece, International Institute on Geoparks Development (IIGEOD), Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest Director, Global Geoparks Network (GGN) President, UNESCO Global Geoparks Council and Bureau Member, Dr. Guy Martini, Director of Haute-Provence Geopark, France, Chair, UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, General Secretary, Global Geoparks Network (GGN), Advisory Committee of the European Geoparks Network, Prof. Ibrahim Kommoo, Chair of Langkawi Research Center (PPL), Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI) UKM, Vice Chair of UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, Vice President of Global Geoparks Network (GGN)Coordinator, Asia Pacific Geoparks Network (APGN), Advisor of Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark. Wudalianchi Representatives learned the lecture UNESCO Global Geoparks and GGN by Νickolaos Zouros, Strategy of Geoparks Development by Kristin Rangnes, the Management of Geoheritage in Southeast Asia and its Contribution to Sustainable Development by Ibrahim Kommoo, Geoheritage Conservation and Geohazard Prevention by Mahito Watanabe, The Foundation of Geodiversity Management---Geoscience Research by Jin Xiaochi, Geoheritage Management in World Heritages and Global Geoparks ---- Opportunity and Challenge by Marie. Representatives of Wudalianchi carried out communication with Geoparks from German and France on the development of Geoparks, studied the experience of Lesvos Museum and panels and reported to the experts the development of Wudalianchi.
