Wudalianchi UNESCO Global Geopark held a variety of scientific research activities, actively communicated with domestic universities and science and technology unions, and promoted the development of the scientific research.
In March, the “One Belt One Road” Geoscience Tourism Research Team from the School of Earth and Space Sciences of Peking University visited Wudalianchi UNESCO Global Geopark to conduct inspection, communicate and practice the geoscience of tourism. Questionnaires were distributed locally, and an interactive meeting was held with junior and senior high school students communicating on the volcano science and study methods. On April 24th, Wudalianchi UNESCO Global Geopark was invited to take part in the science communication demonstration course of "Tell a Story of Our Earth" organized by Peking University and the theme activity of Peking University’s 120th anniversary.
During the period, Wudalianchi UNESCO Global Geopark signed an agreement with the China Student of Geoscience Education Union to establish a science practice and communication base. In order to make it convenient for the people who scientifically drink and bath the precious natural mineral water for the purpose of medical and physiotherapy care to keep in good health and recovery, the scientific research center organized the compilation of “the Handbook of Wudalianchi Natural Mineral Water’s Use for Medical and Physiotherapy Purpose” with reference to relevant statistics and latest mineral water’s evaluation reports. At present, the first draft has been completed, and is available in three versions of Chinese, British and Russian. In mid September, it will be published and distributed to the tourists and the convalescents for free of charge. In June this year, 100 teenagers from China and Russia jointly explored the mysteries of technology and culture through a series of activities of science communication and interaction. The rich and varied science communication activities and the education through entertainment, not only let the Russian teenagers experience the innovation and the development of the science and technology in China, but also strengthen the friendship, promote the communication and deepen the mutual understanding.

In the first half of 2018, Wudalianchi UNESCO Global Geopark designed the science demonstration and exhibition boards on “Fanhua Spring” and “Wang Mao Lv”, completed the evaluation tasks in designing the hand-painted map of the Wudalianchi UNESCO Global Geopark, updating the compilation of the publicity leaflets, and compiling the manuscripts of the propaganda film of the geopark. It has carried out 15 activities subjected in the geoscience popularization, including science demonstration and the exhibitions of folk custom, photography, calligraphy and painting. More than 1200 primary and secondary school students participated in the activities.
