Wenpo Lake in Winter
The scenery of Wenpo Lake in Winter is very charming. Frost flower and mist decorate it just like a fairyland.
Wenpo Lake is a pearl which is embedded in Shilong River. It is a natural bonsai garden in lava landform.
It is actually a group of three lakes: Lipo, Bipo and Jingpo. It is 1,200 metres in total length and average water depth is 0.8 metre.
Wenpo Lake has three incredible natural phenomena.
The first wonder is a high magnetic field in the lake district. This is the centre of the Geopark’s high magnetic field.
The second is that springs never freeze even in extremely cold weather. While ground temperature drops to -30℃ in winter, water temperature in the lake remains in a range of 7-14℃, with hot vapour rising from the surface.
The third is the multifarious lake sceneries that change and vary along the route.
