According to Regulations on Protection of Wudalianchi Global Geopark of Heilongjiang Province and the requirements of Heilongjiang Province Government, The first phrase of returning farmland has been finished. 12800 Mu farmlands within two hundreds meters of volcanic barriers have been returned to forests or grassland so far. The second phrase work of adujsting planting structure began in this April. Sorghum, pumpkin, Carduus marianus, rhizoma atractylodis, honeysuckle and black currants will be planted within 200 hundreds and one thousand meters. Comparing with planting soybeans and corns, growing theseplants can use less chemical fertilizer and pesticide, which will have much less pollution to the volcanic barrier lakes.
