On 29th , February, the first day of the lunar year, the Yaoquan Volcano of Wudalianchi Global Geopark was crowded with people and vehicles. Especially at the Zongling Temple, people came and went in an endless flow. That is the flourishing spectacular of Buddhist culture. From 4 O’clock in the morning, when the bell rang, visitors began to climb Yaoquan volcano to make the pilgrimage for the first time of the year for health and happiness of the whole year. Zongling Temple is special due to its special location where it is in the crater of the Yaoquan volcano and its long history of nearly 100 years, so the temple is regarded as a revered religious shrine. Even some people would like to come a long way to make the pilgrimage. Visitors can not only have the extensive and profound understanding of Buddhist culture, but also know much about the folk customs of Northeast China and get greetings of the New Year. There are also other surprises at Wudalianchi Global Geopark. Four scenic areas including Laohei Volcano Scenic Area, Longmen Stone Village Scenic Area, Wenpo Scenic Area, North Spring Scenic Area are free to visitors for 4 days from 28th , February to 1th March.
